Eagles vs. 49ers Postgame | NFC Championship Game

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 31-7 down at the Linc to become the NFC Champions! The Birds now head to Super Bowl 57, which is going to be an amazing game. It was a bizarre game as Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson both saw time under center for the 49ers. The unraveling of the Niners will certainly be a major theme coming from this game. The Eagles took care of business, exposed the Niners vulnerabilities and came away with the win. The Eagles offense scored 4 rushing touchdowns, while Jalen Hurts looked a little “off” at times within the passing game. But inevitably, he came through when he needed to help secure this win. The Eagles defense was completely dominant and took the 49ers offense out of the game early in the first quarter. As always, we gave our themes, takeaways from the game, and our grades. The Sixers Are Fun And Dominating! (PST Show #499)

The Philadelphia 76’ers are a fun team to watch as they’ve been dominating the Eastern Conference. Joel Embiid & Co. have been putting on a show night after night in what has become an exciting Sixers season. This week, Sean Barnard from Heavy on Sports (heavy.com) joined for a look at this team and how they’ll remain a dominant force in the East. But first, we reflected on the Sixers and Nets game from this past week. Embiid and the Sixers owned Ben Simmons and then some! (approx. 3:30) We then took a look back at our NFL predictions before the season started; where we were right, and where we were dead wrong. (approx. 9:20) From there, we dove into a discussion about how Scott Rolen is the sole entrant into the Baseball Hall of Fame this year. The baseball writers’ and their relationship with the steroid era of baseball is getting exhausting. (approx. 30:15) What we threw down on the Table this week was a great, in-depth discussion with Sean Barnard from Heavy on Sports about this Sixers team and what we’ve been seeing on the court. James Harden’s resurgence is welcomed. Shake Milton and Georges Niang have been great role players. What might happen with this team at the trade deadline? Plus much more this week on the Table! Eagles vs. Giants Postgame | Divisional Round

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs by a score of 38-7 down at the Linc! A score that many Eagles fans are all too familiar with from the 2017 season. They are now heading to the NFC Championship game! Absolute dominance in the trenches is how this game will be remembered. Both the Eagles offensive and defensive lines dominated and outplayed the Giants up front for four quarters. Jalen Hurts' shoulder didn't seem to bother him, and Lane Johnson held up all game as he played with a torn groin and core muscle. The perseverance of this Eagles team was on display tonight, especially on defense as the front seven had Daniel Jones rattled all evening. As always, we gave our themes, takeaways from the game, and our grades. We were very grateful to have Chip Keagy (@ChipForTheBirds) from the All About The Birds podcast platform join us for our discussion after the game. The Eagles Can Win & Ivan Provorov Stinks

This week, we’re diving into the upcoming Eagles vs. Giants Divisional Round playoff matchup and discuss the ridiculous situation in Flyers Nation with Ivan Provorov, Pride Night, and how tings could have been handled so much differently. We have two great guests and discussions this week for your ears! Kelly Hinkle from BroadStreetHockey.com and the BSH Radio podcast joined us this week as we dove into what the Ivan Provorov/Pride Night saga means for his tenure on the Flyers. How could this situation have been avoided? Could Provorov had handled things differently (duh, yes!)? Where does his career now go from here? (approx. 2:30) What we threw down on the Table this week was a great, in-depth discussion with Shane Haff from ThePaintedLines.com about this upcoming Eagles vs. Giants Divisional Round playoff matchup. How will defensive starters CJ Gardner-Johnson and Josh Sweat perform, and what should their expectations be? How the offensive line needs Lane Johnson throughout the game. Analysis Of The Sixers At The Midway Point

This week, we’re analyzing how this Philadelphia 76ers team looks at the midway point of the season. The Eastern Conference is truly up for grabs with talent pouring out from just about every team. How can the Sixers remain a consistent and relevant team in the East? Harrison Grimm from LibertyBallers.com joined us for a discussion of how we should be assessing this team here in January. It was a great discussion! But first, the Philadelphia Eagles are now the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC. What teams would we want to see come to Philly for the divisional round? (approx. 2:15) We then moved to a discussion about the College Football Championship and what a dud of a game. Was this game bad for smaller colleges and their recruiting prospects? (approx. 15:15) From there, we dove into some Flyers talk and assessed where this team is - not so bad that they’d get a top prospect in the draft, and not good enough to contend in the playoffs. Might we see a trade in the near future? (approx. 20:45) What we threw down on the Table this week was a great, in-depth discussion with Harrison Grimm from Liberty Ballers. How Joel Embiid’s style of play this year is looking at the future of this season. Where is Matisse Thybulle’s future going given what's happening with his season at the moment? Eagles vs. Giants Postgame | Week 18

Week 18 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2022-2023 season is now in the books! The Birds beat the New York Giants by a score of 22-16 in the final regular season game at The Linc, won the NFC East division, and secured the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC as the playoffs are around the corner. This was Jalen Hurts’s first game back after suffering a shoulder injury a couple weeks ago. While he was rusty, it was good to see him back on the field, completing passes, and driving down the field. However, the offensive game plan more times than not ran out of steam in the red zone, where the Eagles scored only one touchdown in five trips. Jake Elliott was on fire putting a career-high 5 field goals through the uprights. The Eagles defense, while not facing the likes of Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, were very dominant and set the tone early. They were swarming throughout the game. Interestingly enough, the defense had a number turnover possibilities, yet weren’t able to turn the ball over when they probably could have at several points in both halves. A Look At The Phillies Offseason

It’s Hot Stove season in baseball! The Philadelphia Phillies have been making some moves and acquiring new talent during this offseason. As the Phils look to get back to the World Series, will this new talent make a significant difference? Destiny Lugardo from PhilliesNation.com joined us this week to break things down. It was a great discussion, so give it a listen! But first, we discussed the tragic incident involving NFL and Bills player Damar Hamlin and how the football world has reacted. Plus, we discussed how the Eagles are on a downward trajectory after losing two in a row. (approx. 5:45) We then moved to a discussion about the new and upcoming movie “80 for Brady” starring some Hollywood heavyweights. We asked the question: what is happening with this movie? (approx. 15:35) From there, we dove into some Sixers and NBA talk as the Eastern Conference is pretty exciting and interesting as we’re at the midway point of the season. Should the Sixers trade Tyrese Maxey? (approx. 26:20) What we threw down on the Table this week was a great, in-depth discussion with Destiny Lugardo from Phillies Nation. What kind of role will Craig Kimberly play within this Phillies bullpen? Where does this Phillies starting rotation rank within the NL East and even the NL here in the offseason? Eagles vs. Saints Postgame | Week 17

Week 17 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2022-2023 season is now in the books. The Birds ended up losing to the New Orleans Saints at The Linc, their first home game after 3 road games, by a score of 20-10. The Eagles are now 13-3 on the season, and must beat the Giants next week if they want to win the NFC East division. They’ve been slipping for sure. Gardner Minshew was absolutely horrendous in this game and helped seal the Saints win by throwing a pick-6 at a crucial moment in the 4th quarter. Why the Eagles offensive coaching didn’t utilize Miles Sanders in the run game more effectively after averaging 5.1 yards per carry in the game is beyond comprehension. This offense desperately needs Jalen Hurts back. Plus, the offensive line’s performance was not stellar either. The Eagles defense was virtually non-existent on the Saints first few drives, but then got their act together in the second half. The Eagles defense now has 6-plus sacks in 5 straight games. Eagles are the first team in NFL history to have 4 players with 10-plus sacks in a regular season. Brandon Graham got his 11th sack on the year today, an all-time career high. Eagles vs. Cowboys Postgame | Week 16

Week 16 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2022-2023 season is now in the books. The Birds ended up losing to the Dallas Cowboys on the road by a score of 40-34. The Eagles are now 13-2 on the season, and they remain first in the NFC East division as well as atop the NFC overall. Gardner Minshew was very serviceable in this game, but at the end of the day, too many turnovers by him and Eagles offense cost this team a win on Christmas Eve. All four turnovers lead to a total of 20 points for the Cowboys. Meanwhile, the Eagles wide receivers had an amazing game, and we truly now understand the accuracy value Jalen Hurts has brought to the quarterback position this year. The Eagles defensive front was on fire today. The same could not be said for the secondary who clearly had their worst game of the season. Giving up a 3rd and 30 play was absolutely unacceptable and will go down as one of the worst plays any Eagles secondary. As always, we gave our themes, takeaways and dished out our grades. The Philadelphia Flyers' season certainly hasn't been pretty. It's what you get when you're looking at a rebuild - and a painful rebuild as well. Eagles vs. Bears Postgame | Week 15

Week 15 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2022-2023 season is now in the books! The Birds ended up escaping The Windy City with a win, beating the Chicago Bears by a score of 25-20 at at Soldier Field. The Eagles are now 13-1 on the season, and they remain first in the NFC East division as well as atop the NFC overall. Unlike last week, offensively, this was not a well-balanced game plan. Jalen Hurts not only ran the ball 17 times (and scored 3 rushing touchdowns by the way), but the running backs in this game didn't see any action until over halfway through the second quarter. Hurts also threw two interceptions in this game, which has been unlike him during the course of the season. The Eagles defensive not only kept them in this game, but arguably were the reason why they left Chicago with a win. 6 total sacks on the day. 9 tackles for a loss, and 6 quarterback hits against a team whose quarterback in Justin Fields was able to rush the ball at will for most of the game. The defense did not let up, and were the main reason this team won the game. As always, we gave our themes and takeaways. Eagles vs. Giants Postgame | Week 14

Week 14 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2022-2023 season is now in the books! The Birds absolutely dominated the New York Giants through a well-balanced offensive game plan, and beat them by a score of 48-22 at at MetLife Stadium. The Eagles are now 12-1 on the season, they have secured a playoff spot, and they remain first in the NFC East division as well as atop the NFC overall. This week, Matt Rogers (@politidope) from The Honorable Mention Podcast joined us for our analysis. The biggest theme of this game: setting a dominant offensive tone early. It was a dominating opening drive by the Eagles with Jalen Hurts completing 9 of 10 passes for 64 yards before Miles Sanders scored a 3-yard rushing TD. That opening drive consisted of 14 plays, took 8 minutes and 5 seconds off the clock, and they went 84 yards. Not to mention completions to seven different receivers, and nine different personnel packages. Balance, balance, balance was the name of the offensive game. The Eagles defensive line was nothing short of dominant as well. 7 sacks on the day. 10 tackles for a loss. 12 quarterback hits. They only allowed Saquon Barkley to rush for 28 yards on the ground on 9 carries. The linebackers and secondary also performed incredibly well in this game as well. As horrendous as special teams has looked throughout most of the season, aside from a blocked punt by the Giants, the Eagles special teams have been coming around. We saw a great 66-yard kick return by Boston Scott, The Giants Killer. As always, we gave our themes, takeaways and graded the units and coaches. Phillies Offseason Themes And The Sixers Are...Meh

We have two fantastic discussion this week here at the PST Podcast Show! First, Justin Klugh (@Justin_Klugh) from The Dirty Inning podcast and Baseball Prospectus joined us for a discussion about a few themes we'll be keeping our eyes on during the Phillies Hot Stove offseason. What might another arm in the rotation look like? Dave Dombrowski's dealmaking and how it may affect the farm system. Plus, what does Bryce Harper's surgery and not being in the lineup right out of the gate in 2023 mean for this team and clubhouse? (approx. 5:15) We then spoke to Jonathan Geib from FanSided's The Sixers Sense about what we've been seeing from this 76'ers team, and whether or not it could get any better for them in the Eastern Conference. What's different with Joel Embiid this year? Positives we've seen from the bench guards since Tyrese Maxey has been out. The importance of Tobias Harris early this season, and much more. OPPOSITION TERRITORY: Eagles vs. Giants Preview, Week 14

On this installment of OPPOSITION TERRITORY, Scott Rogust (@ScottRogust), joined us for our Eagles vs. Giants preview podcast! What will week 14 look like for the Eagles who have only lost one game all season, and a Giants team looking to make their mark in the NFC East. It's a divisional matchup neither team should take lightly. Topics Scott and Jeff dove into: - How can the Giants rectify their play, and not necessarily trusting Daniel Jones in overtime after their tie game against the Commanders. - Should the Giants be more concerned with the Eagles rushing or passing attack? - The Eagles defense stopped Derrick Henry last week. Can they stop Saquon Barkley in his tracks? - What's the best way for the Giants to rattle Jalen Hurts to get him off his game this week? Is it even possible? All of this and much more this week on Opposition Territory! Head over to our website for all of our podcasts and more: philadelphiasportstable.com.
