Norris and Talbot Hurt, NHL All-Star Game Issues, and Senators Winning Streak

Alex is back with another loaded podcast! Since he last recorded, the Senators have had a mixed bag of results. They dropped the game he and Hunter Hodies spoke about, as well the next one as well. However, they have since won four in a row and entered the All-Star break on a high note! To break down everything that has taken place over the last two weeks, Beata returns to the podcast! She and Alex talk about some unfortunate Ottawa Senators injuries to Joshua Norris and Cam Talbot. Was the Norris injury handled correctly? Should a different approach have been taken? They also discuss whether or not the Sens could and should look to move away from Talbot at the deadline. Finally, they talk about the All-Star game and what can be done differently to try and make it a more marquee event. Currently, it is something both players and fans seem to want to actively avoid. However, it doesn't have to be like that. Tune in for all of this and more, with the Last Word on Sens podcast!

Bo Horvat Trade and Other Deadline Proposals

Alex and Chace are back for another week of content. After they spent all of last week talking about the Canucks rebuild and what they should do for trades, the Canucks make a massive trade this week. The Bo Horvat trade timing was relatively surprising. However, it gives the guys a ton to discuss. They take a look at what it means for both sides, as well as Horvat himself. At first, Alex wasn't sure about the trade for the Canucks, but after considering it, he really starts to like it. From there, they shift to other deadline proposals. These ones are ones that Alex has come up with, however. Taking three names from the top of the trade bait boards, Alex looks for the best fit for three different buyers. His first deal starts with the Vancouver Canucks continuing their rebuild. Tune in to see who the next name he believes they should make.

Video Games 2 the MAX: One Piece Odyssey Impressions, 343 Industries Suffers Big Layoffs # 335

2023 in gaming has officially begun with some major releases, One Piece Odyssey, and some smaller ones, including Space for the Unbound. Sean has some significant impressions of both titles. Unfortunately, the big tech layoffs have hit Xbox and Bethesda, especially for many at 343 Industries, which has put the future of the Halo franchise in doubt. Marc wonders if this is more of the same bad news for Microsoft, especially when paired with the news that Google and NVIDIA have also voiced concerns over the Activision-Blizzard deal too. Could this make it even tougher for the big purchase to go through? The only thing that seemed to go right in video game-related things was the NPD sales for the year and The Last of Us HBO show premiere. Aside from thoughts on the first episode, there are also discussions on Callisto Protocol's low sales, Ubisoft's underperforming in a variety of areas, Square-Enix officially announcing the end of support for Marvel's Avengers, and much more. Vancouver Canucks News, Coaches, and Trade Talk

The guys are back with another busy week of content. Today, they start by examining some Vancouver Canucks news. Starting with the inevitable firing of Bruce Boudreau. The guys break it down and ask why it even makes sense to bring in a guy like Rick Tochett. Additionally, they look at the Andre Kuzmenko signing that broke today. Once again asking why Vancouver felt they needed to make this move. From there, they shift to a trade that took place involving mostly minor swaps. However, it is a trade nonetheless. Finally, they end the podcast by looking at a pair of articles that evaluates where each NHL head coach is at as well as what Jacob Chychrun's most likely trade destination is. Ranking the seven teams listed from one to seven in terms of making the most sense to no sense at all. Tune in for all of this and more, with the Mnm Hockey Podcast!

Could Final Fantasy IX Remake Actually Be Happening? Our Most Anticipated Games of 2023

This episode was originally recorded on January 7, 2023... (Sean is having a hard time finding computer access to edit due to his living situation. Also, apologies, Sean was sick during the recording so there are some audible sniffles here and there.) Sean and Marc are back to discuss the possibility of getting that long-rumored Final Fantasy IX Remake, but that may not be the only one, as there are now rumors of a Persona 3 Remake as well. Sony also took to CES to make some big announcements including their version of a disability controller called Project Leonardo, the announcement that 30 Million PS5s have been sold, and even Neil Druckmann had some news about a possible Last of Us Part 3 too. Plus, Square-Enix is still stuck on the blockchain, the System Shock Remake could be out soon, Sean's beat Crisis Core FF VII Reunion, and now is playing the Original Final Fantasy VII too. Marc keeps going on World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, and much more. The guys also give out their Top 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2023 in the special topic of the show! Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators Breakdown with Hunter Hodies

Alex is back with another episode after the Ottawa Senators took Game 1 of the Pittsburgh Penguins Home vs Home series! It was a thrilling game, which he discussed on the LockedOn Penguins podcast. Now, the host of that podcast Hunter Hodies joins Alex on the Last Word on Sens podcast to discuss the Sens, Pens and more. The guys compare the two teams' season and how similar they actually are. Examining the lack of depth and that at times goaltending has hurt them, although for two different reasons. As well as injuries being key factors in tougher seasons than both fanbases were hoping for. Hunter also talks about what it is like watching Claude Giroux on another team, as well as who and what surprised him while watching Ottawa play. Did anyone catch him off-guard as an outsider watching the team for the first time this season? Tune in to find out!

Oilers and Leafs Trade Deadline Discussion, Boldy and Zacha Signings, and More

Alex and Chace are back with another week of content! This week, they start by looking at the Pavel Zacha signing. Giving their thoughts on the player and deal. Alex isn't too sure why this deal needed to be made now. As well as what the long-term angle is. However, when they switch to the new Matt Boldy deal, the guys feel a lot better about things. From there, they take a look at an article on an Edmonton Oilers trade proposal brought up by Jason Bukala. The article proposes a trade idea that Alex and Chace simply can't support, which also leads into a discussion on what people are watching in Edmonton this year. Finally, Alex gives Chace a trade target he thinks would fit well with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He gives his reasons why and the guys discuss it before also moving on to where Timo Meier may land if he is traded at all. Tune in for all of this and more, with the MnM Hockey Podcast!

Matt Dumba Rumours, Mid-Season Ottawa Senators Awards, More, With Tyler Ray

Alex is back for another week of Ottawa Senators content! Today, he has Tyler Ray making his return to the podcast. Together, the two look at the last three games of the Sens season (recorded before the Saturday night debacle). Highlighting what they liked, disliked, and overall trends of the team. From there, the two discuss the Matt Dumba trade rumours that are starting to circulate and discuss why it likely wouldn't be a good idea for Ottawa on multiple levels. Finally, they end the podcast by looking at some mid-season Ottawa Senators season awards. Starting with best forward and best defenceman, both Alex and Tyler highlight their case for who has been the best. After that, they switch to team MVP, best rookie, and most surprising player. Getting to hit on all of these categories really highlights how many different players there are to discuss on this Sens team. As well as why it is frustrating they're not higher in the standings.

NHL Midseason Awards

Alex and Chace are back with another episode of the MnM Hockey Podcast! Today, they take a look at the 2022-23 NHL Awards as we approach the mid-season mark. Both guys have written down who they would have as winners for each award if the season were to end today. Starting with the Calder, the guys surprisingly have a similar list. However, that is one of the last awards for a while you can say that about. They go through all the major awards including the Selke, Hart, Vezina, and Norris. The guys have also made up their own award. They are naming it, the Tage Thompson most improved award. Given to a player that they have deemed most improved vs what was expected heading into the season. Trying to focus on underlying numbers instead of just someone with a high shooting percentage, the guys give an interesting list of names.

Video Games 2 the MAX: Crisis Core FFVII Reunion Impressions, The God of War TV Show Looks EPIC

Originally Recorded on 12/21/22. This is just a straight up goof. Sean thought he had posted the audio version and turns out he did not. Unfortunately, due to further personal issues for Sean, we haven’t been able to keep a set schedule, but at least we do have another episode of Video Games 2 the MAX for ya. Although the Game Awards have passed, there’s been quite a bit of fallout from it that isn’t just the announcements and awards, (although the guys are going to discuss some of their favorite things from it and about the show in general), such as the show doing incredibly well in viewership numbers, more information on some of the announcements, criticism towards Xbox for basically no showing the event, especially when their rivals did have announcements at the Game Awards, and more. Microsoft is seemingly making more strides in concessions to help the Activision-Blizzard deal go through, including offering Call of Duty on PS Plus and offering that 10-year deal as well. Then, there’s the other side of it where the FTC is suing to block the acquisition, but the EU and CMA may be heading the other way on it. At least there is some interesting news on the Game Pass front with a possible ad-supported tier coming and that High on Life is doing great numbers on the service. Plus, Sean is excited that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters are finally coming to consoles. The Amazon God of War show is gonna be EPIC. Henry Cavill leaves the Superman role but now looks to be starting a Warhammer movie universe. Sean and Marc have both played Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, Sean is loving Chained Echoes, and much more. Vrana and Waivers Discussion, Panthers in Trouble, and More

Alex and Chace are back for their first podcast episode of 2023! Alex has already looked at the 2023 Ottawa Senators. Now, the guys take a look at what is happening around the league. Starting with the news of the Detroit Red Wings making a change which led to Jakub Vrana being waived. Today, he cleared waivers which had everyone up in a frenzy. The guys look over why it shouldn't be a surprise no one claimed him and what may happen from here on in. They also have a debate about what exactly is Vrana. Is he an elite goal scorer? A routine injury risk? Both? From there, they look at the Florida Panthers and how they may be in trouble. Currently eight points out of a playoff spot, the Panthers season may already be over. The weirdest thing is, why? The guys go through how they have been playing and highlight that it shouldn't be this bad. However, the team still finds itself in a very tough spot to climb out of.

Ottawa Senators December Recap and 2023 Look Ahead

Alex is back after taking a month off due to Holidays and being very busy with life. However, the Ottawa Senators have continued to produce lots to talk about. Today, he is back with a solo episode discussing everything he has missed since his last episode. Starting with the exciting Arytom Zub extension! Alex dives into what it means for the player and team and what Ottawa needs to add around him and the rest of the blueline going forward. From there, he examines their last stretch of games in an up-and-down December for the Sens. Finally, he switches gears to the 2023 Ottawa Senators. What is expected? What is needed? Trying to look at it in five-game increments, Alex decides he would like to see Ottawa take at least seven points in the next five games. This is needed if they want to catch the four or five teams they are trailing for the second wild-card spot.

NHL Head Contact Rules, World Junior Tournament, and Analytics in Hockey

Alex and Chace are back with another week of content! Today, they start off by taking a look at a hit to the head that happened in the 2023 World Juniors game between Canada and Czechia. Alex wants to know why the NHL doesn't have more serious hit-to-the-head rules. As well as highlighting his idea of a mix between how serious the IIHF takes it and how unserious the NHL seems to take it. They also discuss the 2023 World Juniors as a whole. From there, they take a look at a great mailbag question when it comes to increased scoring, especially on the powerplay, and has it been factored in enough to analytical models and analysis? The guys give their thoughts on that topic and go back and forth. Finally, they discuss if NHL betting will ever reach NFL levels when it comes to analytics. A discussion that was spawned thanks to their sponsors at BetStamp!

2022 NHL Teams Christmas Wishlist

Alex and Chace are back with another week of podcasts! Today, they look at each NHL Teams Christmas wishlist. Going through each division and giving one thing the team should be wishing for into 2023 to finish this season. For some, it may be a little more lighthearted. However, for other teams, it may be something much bigger, such as the first overall pick. The guys use this exercise to hit on some larger topics around the league. Topics that include the Ottawa Senators extending defenceman Artyom Zub. Alex explains why he likes this deal so much and what he thinks is next for this Sens team. Overall, they touch on all 32 teams and give something that they would be asking for this Christmas. Now it will be time to see how many come true. Alex Ovechkin 800 Goals, Anaheim Ducks are Bad, Flames Struggling and More

The guys are back with another week of content. Today, they have plenty to discuss. Starting with the Washington Capitals and an Alex Ovechkin goal record. The guys discuss him hitting 800 goals on Tuesday night, as well as how he is about to become second all-time in goals scored. They then shift to how quickly can he catch Wayne Gretzky. Admiring that the conversation has switched from "can he at all?" to "when will it happen?" After that, the guys switch their focus to the Anaheim Ducks. Alex digs into some stats that aren't very encouraging as the guys examine how this season has gone so wrong. No one expected them to be great, but they are on pace to be one of the worst teams of the salary cap era. Alex is also concerned about the Calgary Flames recent play, although it is just a few games of sample. Still, they do not look like the Flames of last year, and that could be an issue. Sonic Frontiers, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, Xbox is Now Doing $70 Games

It has been one thing or another with personal issues for Sean over the last month that's kept us from recording an episode. However, prior to the Game Awards we did do an episode with Sean, Marc, and Daniel. Obviously, the award show has already passed, but if you'd like, you can go to the 1 hour and 9 min mark and listen to who we thought would win in most of the major categories including Game of the Year. Also on this episode, we discuss Microsoft's big announcement that they are officially joining the $70 games club, as its future first-party titles will now be at that price. Could a price increase for Xbox Game Pass be next on the horizon as well? Are video games even worth the price to begin with? Plus, the latest on the Activision-Blizzard deal, the FTC trying to block the deal and what concessions may be made for it to go through. Dead Island 2 is delayed AGAIN, could Legacy of Kain be close to a comeback? Marc has more thoughts on God of War Ragnarok, Sonic Frontiers, and World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, Sean, and Daniel give their first impressions on Pokemon Violet.
