We’re joined today by Connor Gordon, co-manager of the new Fidelity Global Small Cap Opportunities Fund, which was launched in September 2022 for Canadian investors. The fund may be new to the public, but it builds off the success of an institutional version of the fund, that Connor and Chris Maludzinski have been managing since 2019. Connor shares the funds strategy and the appeal of global small caps with host Pat Bolland today. A key takeaway is that this fund focuses on two types of mispricing targeting both high-quality growth at a reasonable price and value stocks with a catalyst for improvement. Rather than being labeled as a growth or value fund, their style encompasses both. Prior to his portfolio management responsibilities, Connor joined Fidelity in 2009 as a research analyst covering the industrial, tech and healthcare sectors, and managed the corresponding components of the Fidelity Canadian Disciplined Equity Fund. From 2013 to 2019 he was a generalist analyst with responsibilities across all sectors and geographies with a focus on small- and mid-cap securities.
